BUFFALO STATE CHI ALPHA COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

Picture
EFFECTIVE AUGUST 28, 2020
Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone.
    -Titus 3:1-2

PURPOSE
In response to the global and in the best interest of the individual student and the university as a whole, we will adjust our operations and programming to best reflect compliance to NYS guidelines and support Buffalo State’s efforts to minimize the spread of COVID-19.

  1. Outreach
    1. We will minimize the process of gathering in large quantities by not promoting or planning any large events for the sole intent of sharing about Chi Alpha.
    2. We will prioritize word of mouth, relational connections already in existence and social media as a means to share and invite people to Chi Alpha.
    3. We will not attempt to table on campus unless authorized by Buffalo State College.
  2. Group Gatherings
    1. Chi Alpha’s monthly large group worship service will be held online via Zoom until further notice.
    2. In any Chi Alpha small group gathering that is conducted in person
      1. Masks will be required when appropriate social distancing is not possible.
      2. Temperature checks will be conducted and documented with attendance rosters to be kept on file by community advisors
      3. Seats will be socially distanced
      4. Hand sanitizer will be provided
      5. Chi Alpha student leaders and community advisors will conduct frequent cleaning as well as enforce these policies.
      6. All students will be asked to remain at home or participate online if they do not feel well prior to attending a gathering.
    3. Chi Alpha Fall Retreat, Northeast SALT, World Mission Summit and Incite will be postponed until further notice.
    4. Any Chi Alpha organized overnight trips, camping or otherwise will be prohibited.
  3. Leadership
    1. All small group leaders will review the Buffalo State Student Organizations COVID Protocols document and will sign a copy to show agreement with its contents.
    2. Community advisors will check https://coronavirus.buffalostate.edu weekly for up to date information in order to best comply with the direction and guidance of the university.
    3. Community advisors will be responsible to make sure that student leaders and members are upholding the policies given by the university.
  4. Voting and Membership
    1. In order to make every effort to provide an inclusive and comfortable environment, we will always provide the option for members to participate remotely and/or hold the activity entirely online.
    2. Solely online participation does not exclude any person from opportunity for membership. As such, any voting will have an online option in order to ensure the opportunity for all voting members to attend.

IN CLOSING
Our guiding principles will be to honor authority, love our peers and love our university in these unprecedented times.
    1. We will pray for our leaders, fellow students and the university.
    2. We will seek to participate in opportunities to foster community engagement and support.
    3. We will abide by policies and honor those who set them in word and deed.
